3 idiots

29 12 2009

Yes, thats the latest movie by Rajkumar Hirani which has become the sensation all around. According to recent reports that I read, it has made a business of a whooping 93crore in its first few days! And thats a huge sum of money for sure! 😀

As everyone around might have by now, I too have checked out this movie, not once but twice!! 😀 And for all those who still haven’t watched it, I have one ‘free-advice’ for you…

” Do yourself a favour, and go watch it now!”

Well, about the movie, as you might have read it everywhere, its absolutely brilliant! Just the kind of movie which is required that would try to change the outlook of people towards education! And sure it is a must watch for all the parents rather than their children alone. 🙂 So, I would stop with that much praise for the movie as I can go on and on. And after watching the movie twice in the theatre, anyone can be pretty sure that I am in love with the movie! 😀

But still, as every other movie, there should be some goof-ups in this one too.. And this is my post to spot out the goof-ups that I have observed by watching it the second time.. 🙂

Thus, for all those who haven’t checked out the movie

SPOILER ALERT!

The movie is no doubt brilliant as I have already told before, but there are some goof-ups which I found out. And considering the fact that Aamir Khan being called “The Perfectionist” in bollywood, its pretty rare to find such flaws with the facts! 🙂

So to start with, in the beginning of the narration part, Farhan Qureshi (R. Madhavan) states that his birth was in the year 1978 (or somewhere in late 70’s). So, that means considering the fact that the characters are excellent in their studies, they have entered the engineering college somewhere in the late 90’s. Thus, the college part of the movie is set in that time.

To show the correct settings of that time period which is around 10yrs back, the movie correctly shows the number plates of the vehicles in the format of ‘white numbers on black background’. This has been taken care of in the movie but the main big flaw which I spotted and which drives some scenes in the movie is that….. The mobile phone wasn’t a common accessory at that time! It was very rare to see a person with a mobile phone as the charges used to be more than Rs.10/min for an outgoing as well as an incomming call! 😀

To add on to the above flaws, considering the same time frame of the movie, we didn’t have an easy access to an online video chat at that time as broadband internet came much late and the wireless one that was used in the movie was recently introduced. Moreover, Youtube was created in February 2005 and it is impossible to access a youtube video then 🙂

Again one more flaw to add on to the date problems in the movie, Virus (Boman Irani) states that his Space pen was gifted to him some 30 years back. Thus, according to my calculations, it should have been with him somewhere in 1960’s. But, according to this page, these pens were put to use by NASA itself in 1967 and I think it is very difficult to get a gift of the same pen at that time.. 😉

Anyways, this was just the result of me looking at the movie in much more detail and these are just my observations which I pointed out 😀

I have no grudge against this movie and I consider it as one of the greatest movies made this year and Rajkumar Hiran FTW! 😀

Please feel free to comment if you agree or disagree with any of the observations. 😀

Emosanal Attyachaar…

13 02 2009

So I am back again to my blog and thought of updating it…. 🙂

As the title says it all, this one is about the movie which was in talks all the time for its weird type of advertising… from the song ” Emosanal Attyachaar” to the distribution of condoms at their premier! 🙂

Finally, the movie has released and just saw it today. Ok then to state the reaction about the movie in short:

” Its the most awesome movie I have seen in recent times.” 🙂

To start with, this movie might have got various reactions from people… but personally I think that the people who wouldn’t have liked this film would be the one with a very conservative or orthodox kind of mindset as the frankness of the topics shown in the movie may have offended some people.

I loved this movie as it was a wonderfull interpretation of Devdas in modern times. The complete movie is related to Devdas but still it stands out differently as a different concept. The whole idea of the movie is very much realistic and I think if Devdas was in 2009, he would also have done the same thing! 🙂 The acting performances by all the actors are outstanding and both the new comers do a lot of justice to their roles!

To top it all, the movie has an excellent camera work and superb sound mixing which makes it a very new kind of narration of the subject. The songs are very thoughfully placed throughout the film which donot let the movie become a bore even thought there are more number of songs than a normal dhinchak kind of hindi film! 😛

But the main mystery in the movie which I couldn’t figure out was; ” Why was there a special thanks to Danny Boyle in the starting credits?” And comparing the movie to a reccently good but over-hyped Slumdog Millionaire, I think Dev D is many times better!

Hence, If you are thinking of watching this movie, do yourself a favour and go watch it as soon as possible. Its worth every penny you pay! 🙂

So, this was my review on the film I liked so much that I just thought of writing something about it on my blog and as I end this post, carry on humming the lines:

Tauba Tera Jalwa, Tauba Tera Pyaar,

Tera Emosanal Attyachaar!!!
