The Beijing Olympics 2008 is on and as everyone knows India got its first ever solo gold medal winner few days back in the form of Abhinav Bindra. At first I had thought that this medal was the first and the last for India in this Olympics. But the Indians have done a really good job this time in acheiving two more medals namely in Men’s Freestyle 66kg Wrestling and Men’s 75kg Boxing events. Sushil Kumar and Vijender Kumar respectively won bronze medals for India in these events.

And thus that makes my previous expectation of India coming home with just one gold to account for in the medal tally fail. Its a really good thing for India. These medals will surely help in improving the morale of the future atheletes I guess. Anyways from the past few Olympics, India is looking like they are improving on this front gradually after the solo bronze in Sydney in 2000 to a solo Silver in Athens in 2004 and then to these 3 medals (till date) in Beijing 2008. So I hope we will surely see some more better performances in future..
